Last Rites Said For Ray Rush
Ray LeRoy Rush, 82, a longtime farmer of the Rossville area, passed away at his home Tuesday evening, Aug. 24 following a two year illness.
He was the eldest son of James Eston and Jane (Denning) Rush, born in Franklin Township on Aug. 30, 1888. He received his education in rural school.
Ray was a member of the Rossville Presbyterian Church and served on the Board of Trustees and as an Elder. He served in the Army during World War I.
On Feb. 20, 1923 he was united in marriage to Hazel Lettie Frink by Rev. R. L. Van Nice. She survives with three daughters, Mrs. Clarence (Ruth) Brandsmeier, Mrs. Neil (Darlene) Leas, Mrs. Leona Troester and seven grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. One brother, Jessie, of Des Moines, and three sisters, Mrs. Ethel Walters of Monona, Mrs. Vern (Blance) Thornton of Postville and Mrs. Richard (Vernie) Stahl of Lansing also survive Ray.
He is preceded in death by his parents, three brothers, Leslie, Dewey and Carroll, one sister, Bessie, and one son-in-law, Arthur Troester.
Pallbearers were Lester Fish, Gordon Marti, Lloyd Bechtel, Clem Larkin, Donald Deal, and Leon Ralston.
He was laid to rest in Oakland Cemetery.
