Lloyd Vincent Amundson, Jr., age 74, of Livingston, WI and formerly of Farmersburg died Saturday December 1, 2007 at Upland Hills Health in Dodgeville, WI. Funeral Services will be held at the St. John Lutheran Church in Farmersburg at 11:00 a.m. Friday, December 7, with Pastor Bruce L. Hanson, officiating. Burial will be in the United Brethren Cemetery, rural Farmersburg, with Military Honors.
Friends may call from 4-8 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 6 at the Leonard Funeral Home in Elkader and from 10 a.m. until time of service at the church Friday morning.
Lloyd was born June 13, 1933 in Postville to Lloyd E. and Viola (Jones) Amundson. He graduated from Farmersburg High School in 1951. He then enlisted in the U.S. Navy in 1951 until being Honorably Discharged in 1956. One of his fondest memories was serving on the U.S.S. Hornet.
Upon returning home, Lloyd drove truck for Miller's Dairy in Elkader and then was a self-employed milk can hauler, and later drove truck for Schneider Trucking. He also worked for three years for the Clayton County Highway Department. Lloyd then had his own bulk route for the Ludlow Cheese Factory in Waukon until being employed at Richardson Trucking and retiring in 2003 from Johnson Trucking of Darlington, WI. He also enjoyed driving the Northeast Community Transit Van out of Decorah.
Lloyd loved Harley motorcycles, John Deere tractors, and was an avid sports fan cheering on the Packers, Cubs, and watching NASCAR. He enjoyed country music and the Grand Ole Opry and loved his family, which was his number-one priority in life.
Lloyd married Mary Ann Weadge in January of 1954, and she later passed away in 1969. He then married Barbara Kuehl November 8, 1970.
Survivors include his three children, Gina Walmer and her fiancé Lyle Dalton of Mt. Zion, WI, Cory Amundson of Effort, PA, and Sonja (Jason) Christopherson of Onalaska, WI; four grandchildren, Cindee (Todd) Swanson, Nicole Walmer, and Ashley and Renee Amundson; three great-grandchildren, Jeremy, Hayley and Kassady Swanson; a daughter-in-law, Brenda Amundson of Limerick, PA; three sisters, Rose Mary (L'Dean) Tielbar of Farmersburg, Linda Buechler of Independence, and Rita (Bill) Leliefeld of Guttenberg.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his first wife, Mary Ann Weadge in 1969; his stepmother, Bernice Kuhse; an infant daughter, Cindee Jo Amundson; a grandson, Nathan Walmer; a sister, Marlene Meyer; and a brother, Burdell Amundson.
