Kenneth C. Hall, 88, long-time resident and farmer of Jefferson Township, Allamakee County, died Saturday, October 9, 2004, at Northgate Manor in Waukon. Funeral services were held Wednesday, October 13 at St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Waukon with Father Joseph Schneider officiating. Interment was in Mt. Olivet Catholic Cemetery, Waukon. Hanson Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

Kenneth Charles was born September 3, 1916, to Charles M. and Mary Jane (Solon) Hall on a farm near Fountain, Minn. He attended St. Patrick's High School for two years and graduated from Waukon Senior High. During the depression, he helped his father on the farm, was a farm hand on neighboring farms, cut forests for the construction of locks and dams along the Mississippi River, harvested potatoes in North Dakota, and worked at canning factories in Rochelle and Chicago, Ill.

Kenneth served his country from August 1941 to September 1945 as a radio and radar operator on B-17 bombers in the American and Pacific Theatres. He participated in Sea Search Missions to protect the Panama Canal Zone and participated in the Battle of Midway. Tech. Sgt. Hall left the Army Air Corps as a decorated World War II veteran with five bronze stars, the air medal with three oak leaf cluster, and the good conduct medal. His qualifications included radar repair and the airborne tab.

Upon discharge he returned to Campbell Soup Company in Chicago as an electrician. He soon decided to return to Waukon to farm with his brother James. On July 10, 1952, he married Mildred M. Burke of Waterloo Township at St. Mary's Hanover Church.

He was a member of St. Patrick's Church, Waukon. Aside from farming, he enjoyed reading, woodworking, and conversing with anyone available. He was a loved and loving husband and father. His cheerful disposition, humor, and always present smile will be missed by all.

Survivors include his wife Mildred; one son, Charles (Susie) of Denver, Colo.; and three daughters, Ann (Mark) Henthorn of Muscatine, Iowa, Karen (Warren) Varley of Stuart, Iowa, and Susan (Daniel) Cahoon of Monona, Iowa; 12 grandchildren, Kelly, Nathan, Jonathan, Gina, Ben, Rachel, Gwen, Will, Ariel, Ellen, Clara, and Millie; and two great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; two sisters, Esther and Ruth; and three brothers, James, John, and Robert.
