Wayne A. Haltmeyer, son of Eugene and Betty (Engen) Haltmeyer, was born on February 1, 1954, in Postville, Iowa. Wayne received his education in the elementary and high school in Postville. He graduated from the Postville Community High School in 1972. He had a share in the family farming operation and was owner/operator of the Yellow River Feed and Seed.

Wayne was a member of the Community Presbyterian Church, joining by Confession of faith on March 17, 1967. He was a member of the F.F.A. He was an enthusiastic bowler and vice president of the Bowling Association and also a member of the Board of Directors of the Postville Bowling Association.

Wayne became ill about eighteen months ago. He had been in the hospital here in Postville and in Roches­ter several times. He became seriously ill on Friday evening, March 10, and entered the Waukon Hospital. He was transferred to St. Mary's Hospital in Rochester, Minnesota, on Saturday, March 11, and passed away on Sunday,
March 12, 1978. He reached the age of 24 years, 1 month and 11 days.

Wayne is survived by his beloved parents, Eugene and Betty Haltmeyer; two sisters: Mrs. Jeffery (Beverly) Sears of Ames, Iowa, and Susan Haltmeyer of Waterloo, Iowa; one brother, Ronald at home; a maternal grand­mother, Mrs. Esther Engen and paternal grandmother, Mrs. Ernestine Haltmeyer; also many uncles, aunts, cousins, and one niece, Karen Sears. There were other relatives and many friends.
