Olga Meiners Thimmesch

Olga Meiners Thimmesch, 88, of New Albin and formerly of Caledonia, MN passed away Wednesday September 26, 2007 surrounded by her loving family at Gundersen Lutheran Medical Center in La Crosse, WI. Funeral services were held Monday, October 1, 2007 at the New Albin Community Center in New Albin. Pastor Jim Olsen of Christ Community Evangelical Free Church officiated. Burial was in Evergreen Cemetery in Caledonia, MN. Haugen-Roble-Jandt Funeral Home in Caledonia, MN was in charge of arrangements.

Olga was born November 12, 1918 in Allamakee County to Herman G. and Augusta (Ehlers) Meyer. In December of 1937, Olga married Arthur Meiners and he preceded her in death in November of 1951. She married Gregor Thimmesch in September of 1962 and he preceded her in death in March of 1976.

Survivors include seven children, Betty L. Farnholtz of Winona, MN, Vernald (Star) Meiners, Sr., and Kenneth John (Susan) Meiners, both of New Albin, Gary (Carolyn) Meiners of Prairie du Chien, WI, Norlin (Karen) Meiners and Linda Rogers, both of New Albin, and John Thimmesch of Rockford, IL; one daughter-in-law, Linda J. Meiners of Omaha, NE; 31 grandchildren; 64 great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; one sister, Edna Meyer of Eitzen, MN; one brother, Lester (Donna) Meyer of New Albin; and one sister-in-law, Lois Meyer of Davenport.

In addition to her first and second husbands, Olga was preceded in death by her parents; one son, Wilbert Meiners; two grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; one brother, Norman Meyer; one son-in-law, Don Farnholtz; and one brother-in-law, Clarence Meyer.
