Waukon Native Dies In California

A memorial service was held Monday, March 29 at Nazareth Lutheran church of Turlock, CA for Waukon native Stanley M. Teslow who died Saturday, March 27 following a long illness.

He was born March 14, 1917 and was the son of Albert and Hilda Teslow. He was 65 at the time of his death.

He joined the US Navy in March of 1938 and served aboard the USS Arizona during the attack at Pearl Harbor Dec 7, 1941. His service during the remainder of WW II was aboard the USS Reno in the central Pacific and he was awarded the Silver Star Oct. 14, 1944 for gallantry in action against enemy forces.
