Funeral services for Georgean Stadtmiller were held Monday, July 9, 2007, at 10:30 a. m. at the Community Presbyterian Church in Postville, with the Reverend Gary Catterson officiating. The organist was Beverly Bacon. The Casketbearers were: Jack Hager, Jerome Lenth, Gerald Guyer, Mike Schissel, Gene Voss, and Carlton "Bud" Collins. Burial was in the Postville Cemetery. The Schutte Funeral and Cremation Service of Postville was in charge of arrangements.

Georgean Evelyn (Koenig) Stadtmiller was born June 3, 1920 to Henry and Clara (Poesch) Koenig, on a farm in Winneshiek County, near Castalia, Iowa. She passed away Friday, July 6, 2007 in Veterans Memorial Hospital at Waukon, Iowa, at the age of 87 years, one month, and three days.

Georgean began her faith journey with baptism in St. Paul Lutheran Church at Postville, Iowa. She was confirmed in the Zion Lutheran Church at Castalia, Iowa. She graduated from Postville High School in 1937.

On November 9, 1940 Georgean was married to Lawrence Stadtmiller in the Zion Lutheran Parsonage at Castalia by the Reverend William Striepe. To this union two sons were born. The couple farmed together on the Stadtmiller family farm near Luana until 1964, when they moved to Postville. She became a resident of the Good Samaritan Center in Waukon on June 5, 2007.

Upon moving to Postville, Georgean worked as a cook at the V&J Coffee Shop and later at the Postville Community Hospital, retiring in 1985. She enjoyed gardening, crocheting, making crafts and working word puzzles. A special highlight in her life was in 1967 when she and Lawrence traveled to Germany to see their son, Gene, while he was stationed there with the U.S. Army.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Lawrence, who died in 1998, a brother-in-law, Aldo Larson, and one niece and one nephew.

She is survived by two sons, three grandchildren, and seven great grandchildren: Don and JoAnn Stadtmiller, Longmont, CO, their daughter, Senta Odette and Patrick Larabee, Charles Andre, Lauryn Andre, Ashley Larabee and Brandon Larabee; daughter, Shela and Darrin Marchus, Amber Marchus, Kayla Marchus, Joseph Marchus; Gene and Mary Stadtmiller, Cedar Rapids, IA, their son, Paul Stadtmiller and friend, Jolene Post.

Also surviving are a sister, Arlene Larson, Postville, one niece, two nephews, several cousins and many friends.

Georgean was a member of the Community Presbyterian Church in Postville.
