Herbert Colsch

Herbert "Herbie" Colsch, age 54, of New Albin died Thursday evening, July 5, 2007 at Gundersen Lutheran Hospital in LaCrosse, WI. Funeral services were held Monday, July 9 at the Community Center in New Albin, with Pastor Thomas Schultz officiating. Burial was in Zion Evangelical Cemetery in Eitzen, MN. The Thornburg Hanson Funeral Home in Lansing is assisting the family.

Herbert was born in LaCrosse, WI September 25, 1952 to Edward and Evelyn (Mulholland) Colsch, Sr. He graduated from Kee High School in Lansing in 1970. Herbert married Mary Diersen July 18, 1981 at St. John's Lutheran Church in Caledonia, MN.

Over the years he'd worked as a farmer and at Northern Engraving, did logging, worked for various sawmills, and most recently had started working construction with Donahue Construction. He was the caretaker for Sand Cove Cemetery. In his spare time he loved playing cards and grilling out with the family.

He is survived by his wife Mary of New Albin; three children, Cassandra Lynn (Matt) Colsch of Arlington Heights, IL, Stacia Marie (Allen) Pohlman of New Albin, and Michelle Staggemeyer of Houston, MN; three grandchildren, Brayden, Triston and Serenity; eight siblings, Margaretta Cue (Scott Carroll) of Lansing, Ariel (Peter) Gilbertson of Reno, MN, Edward "Lug" (Kathy) Colsch of Brownsville, MN, Evelyn "Granny" (Edward) Bebee of Reno, MN, Raymond "Fargo" (Dolly) Colsch of Freeburg, MN, Ronnie "Punk" Colsch of Freeburg, MN, Merrell "Cobb" (Karen) Colsch of Reno, MN, and Calvin (Donna) Colsch of Freeburg, MN. Herbert was preceded in death by his parents.
