Daryl Kipp

Daryl Gerard Kipp, 50, of Waukon passed away from complications of cancer Saturday, June 23, 2007 at Franciscan Skemp Hospital in Lacrosse, WI, with his family surrounding him. Funeral services were held Tuesday, June 26 at St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Waukon with Father Joseph Schneider officiating and Msgr. Ed Lechtenberg assisting. Burial was in Mount Olivet Catholic Cemetery located in rural Waukon.

Daryl was born January 17, 1957 in Postville, the son of Kenneth Kipp (deceased) and Vivian Kipp. He attended grade school at St. Francis DeSales in Ossian and St. Patrick's School in Waukon. Daryl excelled in school and even earned the recognition award of "Who's Who" in American High Schools. Daryl graduated from Waukon Senior High School in 1975. He attended the University of Northern Iowa in Cedar Falls for three years majoring in accounting. He also earned an Associate's Degree in Applied Science from Bismarck State College in Bismarck, ND.

Daryl was employed with Foremost Farms in Waukon for the past 10 years. He was very proud to be part of the terrific team employed at the creamery. In the past, Daryl was employed with various drilling companies in Wyoming and Oklahoma, but relocated to live near his son, Matthew.

The community of Waukon was a wonderful place for Daryl to settle as it had lots to offer him. Daryl's goals in life were quite simple and at the same time, quite remarkable. His goals included spending time with his son, Matthew, being a humble person, and being friendly and helpful to his neighbors. He accomplished these goals in a quiet, non-assuming way.

Daryl was an active member of St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Waukon. Practicing the Catholic faith and following its teachings was something Daryl believed in with his whole heart. To Daryl, the best part of life was spending time with his family and friends. Family get-togethers were the events that Daryl looked forward to most. When engaging in a conversation with Daryl, a person always felt at ease and appreciated as an individual.

Daryl's interests included bike and motorcycle riding, fishing and boating, sightseeing, reading, and relaxing outdoors enjoying nature. Daryl was a most loyal friend and a kind neighbor. He was eager to share his time, advice, and many talents with others.

Daryl was a loving and patient father, son, brother, and uncle, and he will be dearly missed because of his gentleness, generosity, wisdom, support, and humor. Daryl's family and many friends will treasure his memory in their hearts.

Survivors including his son, Matthew Kipp (girlfriend, Sarah Brink) of Waukon; his mother, Vivian Kipp of Waukon; six sisters and five brothers, Dean Kipp, Ron Kipp, and Lucy (David) Lawson of Waukon; Ann (Norman) Schultz of Postville; Mary (Mike) Kitun of Glen Ellyn, IL; Theresa (Dale) Dobroth of Lake Forest, IL; Dale Kipp of Big Lake, MN; Ken (Laura) Kipp of Chippewa Falls, WI; Donna (Tim) Benson of Lansdowne, VA; Anthony Kipp of Leesburg, VA; Caroline (Kevin) Kelleher of Lovettsville, VA; and eight nieces and seven nephews.
