Francis J. Dougherty, age 61, of Blakesburg, Iowa, died September 15, 2002, at 8:41 p.m. at the Ottumwa Regional Health Center. Funeral services were held Wednesday, September 18, at 1:30 p.m. at the Alexander-Johnson Funeral Chapel, with Rev. Tom Rimmer officiating. Burial was in Shaul Cemetery. Alexander-Johnson Funeral Chapel assisted with arrangements. Francis Dougherty was born December 31, 1940, in Waukon to Johnnie and Anna (Haas) Dougherty. He married Hazel Michael in 1981 in Farson, Iowa. He was a railroad employee for several years. Francis was preceded in death by his parents; a sister, Florence Lembke; and two brothers and two sisters in infancy.
Survivors include his wife; one son, Fred Michael of Glendale, Ariz.; four daughters, Debbie Kress of Fairfax, Iowa, Cheryl Sedrel of Cedar Rapids, Kathy Jennings of Carlisle, Iowa, and Judy Wheeler of Des Moines; eleven grandchildren; three brothers, Ralph of Waukon, Bernard of New Albin, and Vincent of Prairieburg, Iowa; and three sisters, Mabel Sires of Spring Grove, Anna Souhrada of Fountain, Minn., and Marie Herold of Charles City. Francis' nephews will serve as pallbearers.
Memorials can be made to Heartland Humane Society.

Francis J. Dougherty, 61, of Blakesburg, Iowa, formerly of Waukon, Iowa, died of cancer Sunday night, September 15, 2002, in the Ottumwa Regional Health Center, Ottumwa, Iowa.

Services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday at Alexander-Johnson Funeral Chapel, Ottumwa, by the Rev. Tom Rimmer. Burial will be in Shaul Cemetery, Ottumwa. Visitation after noon today at the funeral home, with the family present from 6 to 8 p.m.

Survivors include his wife, Hazel; a son, Fred Michael Dougherty of Glendale, Arizona; four daughters, Debbie Kress of Fairfax, Iowa; Cheryl Sedrel of Cedar Rapids, Iowa; Kathy Jennings of Carlisle, Iowa; and Judy Wheeler of Des Moines, Iowa; three brothers, Ralph Dougherty of Waukon; Bernard Dougherty of New Albin, Iowa; and Vincent Dougherty of Prairieburg, Iowa; and three sisters, Mabel Sires of Spring Grove, Minnesota; Anna Souhrada of Fountain, Minnesota; and Marie Herold of Charles City, Iowa.
