Rites For Mrs. E. Dresselhaus Held At New Albin Sunday

Born as Eliza Schultz on July 29, 1876, the daughter of the late Henry and Mary Schultz. She was educated in the rural schools of Union City township.

On October 5, 1904, she was united in marriage to Fred Dresselhaus. To this union were born six children, who will greatly miss a kind and loving mother.

She has suffered from a heart condition for about six months and passed away to her final resting place October 13, 1954 at St. Francis Hospital, La Crosse, Wisconsin.

She was a life-long member of the Methodist Church and faithful in her attendance and help in the various organizations of the church.

Her faith in the Lord showed plainly in her kindness to all about her. The many people paying their last respects and the numerous floral and memorial offerings is a tribute to the high esteem in which she was held by all who knew her. Her passing leaves a vacant space in many hearts.

She was preceded in death by her husband 32, years ago, also by her parents and brothers, Henry and Fred Schultz.

She leaves to mourn her loss six children namely, Mildred (Mrs. Earl Mundt) of El Cerrito, California, who due to illness was unable
to attend; Raymond of Pueblo, Colorado; Carl of Sioux City, Iowa; Richard of Pigeon Falls, Wisconsin; Esther (Mrs. Clinton Dee) and Leslie of New Albin; 10 grandchildren; and 5 great-grandchildren.

Friends of Mrs. Eliza Dresselhaus, aged 78, of New Albin, were shocked to hear of her sudden passing on Oct. 13, at 9:15 p.m. at St. Francis Hospital, La Crosse, WI, where she was rushed by ambulance during the early morning. Mrs. Dresselhaus was able to be up and around until about two weeks ago when her doctor ordered her to bed. Members of her family had visited her and had barely returned to their home when they learned that she had suffered a heart attack due to embolism. Her family was with her during her brief illness.

Mrs. Dresselhaus was born on July 29, 1876, at Dorchester, a daughter of Henry and Mary (Fenstermann) Schultz, where she grew to womanhood and received her rural and religious instructions. On Oct. 5, 1904, she was married to Fred Dresselhaus, and to this union were born six children who mourn the loss of a kind and loving mother. They are Mildred (Mrs. Earl) Mundt of El Cerrito, CA, Raymond of Pueblo, CO, Carl of Sioux City, IA, Richard of Pigeon Falls, WI, Esther (Mrs. Clinton) Dee, and Leslie, both of New Albin.

Mrs. Dresselhaus, or Eliza as she was well known to her many friends, was a kind and loving mother and grandmother. She was a faithful member of Grace United Methodist Church, Sunday School, and the W.S.C.S. Mrs Dresselhaus' great love for flowers was shown by the many floral tributes given in her memory.

Her husband preceded her in death on Jan. 19, 1922. She is also survived by 10 grandchildren, and five great-grandchildren who will miss an adoring grandmother.

Funeral services were held Sunday afternoon, Oct. 17, and Grace United Methodist Church, New Albin, at 2:00 p.m., with Rev. Ray Cawley officiating.
