Elizabeth A. Klees, 58, of Lansing died Tuesday, March 20, 2007 at Gundersen Lutheran Hospital in La Crosse, WI. Funeral services were held Saturday, March 24 at Center Baptist Church in rural Lansing, with Rev. Reuben Grueneich officiating. Burial was in the church cemetery in rural Lansing.

Elizabeth Anne Anderson Klees was born February 25, 1949 in Waukon, the daughter of Edmund and Harriet (Ahlstrom) Anderson. She attended Center #3 Country School and Waukon Elementary School and graduated from Waukon High School in 1967. She attended Bethel College in St. Paul, MN for two years then moved to Arizona, where she worked for the Arizona Highway Patrol from 1970 to 1975.

In 1971 she married Arthur Chavez at Center Baptist Church in rural Lansing. They were later divorced. Elizabeth moved to Duluth, MN, where she worked for the Minnesota Department of Public Safety as a driver's license examiner for six years, after which she moved to Winona, MN and continued in the same position for 19 more years.

She purchased the home farm from her father in 1993, where they raised beef cows and crops.

May 29, 1994 she married Michael Klees at Farmers Community Park in Winona County, MN. In 1999 she began working for Allamakee County giving drivers license exams. Elizabeth returned to school at WWTC in La Crosse, WI, graduating in 2003 as an x-ray technician. She took additional training at Gundersen Lutheran Hospital and worked there full time as a radiographer until recently.

As an outdoor lover, Elizabeth enjoyed camping, canoeing, gardening and riding motorcycles. She also enjoyed reading and traveling throughout the United States, taking many pictures of her trips. Since moving back to Waukon, Elizabeth has been a devoted caregiver to her father and has enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren.

Survivors include her husband, Michael, of Lansing; a daughter, Danelle (Erik) Lawson of Winona, MN; two granddaughters, Summer and Piper Lawson; her father, Edmund Anderson of Lansing; a sister, Doris Mae (Dave) Anderson of Lansing; and a brother, Gordon (Karen) Anderson of Milwaukee, WI. She was preceded in death by her mother, Harriet; and two sisters, Sonia Lynn and Beverly Kay Anderson.

Casketbearers were Mark Neumann, Mitch Anderson, Derrick Shogren, Dave Enyart, Jr., Patrick Troendle and Jason Klees.
