Funeral services for Mrs. Fred L. Baltz were held Friday, April 5, at 11 a.m. in St. Paul Lutheran Church, Postville. Rev. Julius Peterson officiated with Mrs. Bernald Martins as organist. Schutte Funeral Service, Postville, was in charge of arrangements. Burial was in the Postville Cemetery.
Lucia Emma Baltz, daughter of Fred H. and Louise (Lenth) Schultz was born June 6, 1894 in Grand Meadow Township, Clayton County. She died Wednesday, April 3, 1991 in the Good Samaritan Center, Postville.
She was baptized August 19, 1894 by Rev. Robert Neumann in St. Paul Lutheran Church, Postville, and confirmed there April 12, 1908 by Rev. R. Kuehne. She attended District School No. 4 in Grand Meadow Township and graduated from Postville High School with the class of 1913. She taught in the rural schools of Clayton County for several years.
On April 17, 1919 she married Fred Baltz in St. Paul Lutheran Church. They lived in Postville for six years and then purchased an acreage which had been their home for 47 years. She was a lifetime member of St. Paul Lutheran Church in Postville and the Women of the ELCA.
She is preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Fred, who died February 5, 1974, a sister, Amanda (Mrs. Carlaus Meyer) and two brothers, Orville and Richard Schultz.
Surviving are a son, Eugene, Decorah; two grandsons, Rev. Frederick Baltz, Galena and Everett Baltz, North Platte, NE, 3 great grandchildren; and 3 nieces.
Casket bearers: Gerald Heck, William Livingood, Ray Schara, William Gentz, Harlan Sebastian, Bernald Martins, Vernon Miller, and Paul Grienus.
