Funeral services for Arthur Baltz were held Saturday, February 1, 1986 at 2:00 p.m. at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Postville. The Reverend Julius L. Peterson and the Reverend David H. Palm officiated. The Schutte Funeral Service of Postville was in charge of arrangements. Burial was in the Postville Cemetery. Casket bearers were Brian Martins, Alan Martins, Rick Kirkeberg, Mark Martins, Larry Martins and Joe Duwe.
Arthur Baltz, son of William F. and Matilda (Meyer) Baltz, was born January 11, 1910 on a farm in Grand Meadow Township. He passed away January 30, 1986 at Community Memorial Hospital in Postville.
He was baptized February 5, 1910 and confirmed September 2, 1923 at St. Paul Lutheran Church. Art attended the McKinley School near his home.
On June 21, 1932 he was married to Marie Meyer. They bought the family farm in 1945. Art took a course in refrigeration and air conditioning at Youngstown, Ohio and worked at this occupation in addition to farming. He also had the RCA TV Sales and Service business for 18 years. They moved to Postville in 1958.
Art will be remembered for his musical ability, in both playing instruments and restoring and building them. He was also an inventor. He installed the bells and carillon in the church steeple and lights on the steeple cross.
Art was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church, President of the Young Peoples Society, President of the Church Council and sang in the choir for over 40 years.
Surviving are his wife, Marie; a son, Duane and his wife, Vivian, of Reston, Virginia; a daughter, Joann and her husband, Bernald Martins of Postville; 7 grandchildren; and a sister, Lurene Walter of Postville.
He is preceded in death by his parents.
