Joseph Burns Crowley 1903 - 1981

Joseph Crowley, 78, of New Albin, died on Monday, July 13, 1981, at the Waukon Veterans Memorial Hospital after a long illness.

He was born on February 26, 1903, at New Albin, the son of James and Bridget (Thornton) Crowley.

He graduated from New Albin High School and was employed for many years with Otto Koch, who was associated with State fishing, and he also worked for the Ehrlich family in the fishing business. He was later em­ployed by the Lansing Company until 1964, when he became ill. Since then he had been confined to his home.

He married Mae Sires on February 8, 1932, at Winona, Minnesota. She survives.

Also surviving are a brother, Leo­nard of New Albin; a sister, Mrs. Arnold (Zeta) Anderson of Sauk City, Wisconsin; a niece, Mrs. Robert (Patricia) Somermeyer of Madi­son, Wisconsin; and a nephew, Earl Crowley of La Crescent, Minnesota.

He was preceded in death by two sisters and one brother.

Funeral services were held at the Grace Methodist Church in New Albin on Wednesday, July 15, at 2 p.m. The Rev. Robert Lueck of Waukon officiated and burial was in English Bench cemetery. Potter-Haugen funeral home of Caledonia, Minnesota, was in charge of arrangements.

Pallbearers were Earl Crowley, Lynn Sires, James Sires, Robert Grahlman, Barry Sires and Douglas Sires, all nephews.
