Frances Williams

Graveside services were conducted Monday afternoon at the Postville Cemetery for Frances Gates Williams, 89. A long-time resident of Postville, she had lived since September, 1979 at the Good Samaritan Center, Ottumwa, where she died Thursday.

Born in Ft. Dodge Oct. 5, 1895, she was a graduate of Iowa State College, Ames. She married Victor Williams Oct. 5, 1921. They farmed for 23 years on the Williams Grand Meadow Farm near Postville.

She was active in the Legion Auxiliary, the Croquet Club and was a past matron of Eastern Star. She and her husband lived 32 years at Coggon, where they owned Williams Dry Goods Store.

She is survived by a son, Frank Gates Williams, Ottumwa; a daughter, Frances Ann Masan [sic] [maybe should be Mason], Kalamazoo, MI; 2 grandsons, 4 granddaughters and 9 great-grandchildren; a brother-in-law, Robert Lindsay who resides at the Postville Good Samaritan Center.
