Virginia Boese

A memorial service for Virginia Boese will be held Saturday, March 10, 2007, at 11:00 a. m. in the Community Presbyterian Church at Postville, Iowa, with the Reverend Gary Catterson officiating. The organist will be Beverly Bacon. Visitation will be at the church from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service. Inurnment will take place at a later date in the Postville Cemetery. Schutte Funeral and Cremation Service of Postville is in charge of arrangements.

Virginia Alice Boese, was born March 15, 1928, in Bloomfield Township, Winneshiek County, near Castalia, Iowa, to Donald and Ruby (Meyer) Peckham. She passed away Saturday, February 17, 2007, in the Good Shepherd Hospice in Auburndale, Florida. She was 78 years old.

Virginia was baptized in the United Brethren Church at Castalia, Iowa. She graduated from Postville High School and attended the University of Iowa.

On September 12, 1948 Virginia was married to Leo Boese. To this union four children were born. Virginia lived in Postville most of her life, where she was employed by the Douglass Pharmacy and then by it's successor, for over thirty years. She retired in 1992.

She is preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Leo, a brother, Neil, and a sister, Anita Frimmel.

Surviving are her children, Mark Boese, Postville, Greg (Teri) Boese, Iowa City, IA, Kent (Lisa) Boese, Cedar Rapids, IA, and Dawn Sebastian, Lakeland, FL, five grandchildren, Brandon and Damon Sebastian, Emily and Brian Boese, and Jill Boese, and two great grandchildren, Linzie and Autumn Sebastian.

Virginia was a member of the Community Presbyterian Church in Postville, the Women's Association and taught Sunday School for many years. She was also a member of the VFW Auxiliary and served as a Den Mother for the local Cub Scout Troop. In her leisure time she especially enjoyed camping. Her other interests included sewing, antiques and genealogy.
