Lawrence "Dutch" Protsman, age 79, of Lansing died Sunday morning, Feb. 11, 2007 at his home in Lansing. There will be no formal services, friends and relatives are welcome to stop by the house to visit with the family at their convenience. The Thornburg Hanson Funeral Home in Lansing is assisting the family.
Dutch was born in Lansing December 9, 1927 to Albert and Ferne (Sandry) Protsman. He was a veteran, having served in the Army Air Corps during WWII.
He married Noel Early June 3, 1948 in Biloxi, MS at Keesler Air Base. He retired from the U.S. Post Office in 1988, having been a Rural Mail Carrier for 25 years.
Over the years he had been a volunteer fireman, managed the Lansing Mudcats Baseball Team, and was a reserve police officer, Past President of the School Board, a Boy Scout Leader, and a former Mason.
Dutch is survived by his wife, Noel Protsman of Lansing; three children, Stephen (Kathleen) Protsman of Austin, TX, David (Vicky) Protsman of Decorah, and Lisa (Tom) Batteen of Box Elder, SD; eleven grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and one sister, Alvina Yohe of Caledonia, MN.
He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Norbert and Albert, Jr.
