Ben Welper, 61, Union City township farmer, died Thursday afternoon (23 Oct 1958) of a heart attack while he was loading cattle.
Mr. Welper was born July 21, 1897, in Union City township, the son of Mr. and Mrs. Bernard Welper, and lived his entire life on the farm where he died.
He is survived by his wife, the former Meta Krzebietke; one daughter, Dorothy; two brothers, Walter of Waukon, and William of Eitzen, Minn.; and five sisters, Mrs. Lena Hagen, Mrs. Eliza Buege and Mrs. Martha Renkell, all of New Albin, Mrs. Charles King of Waukon, and Mrs. Frieda Miene of Dorchester.
Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Sunday at the farm home and at 2 p.m. in the New Albin Evangelical church. Burial will be in the New Albin city cemetery.

Waukon – Ben Welper, 61, collapsed Thursday while loading cattle on his farm. Cause of death was a heart attack.Welper, under treatment for a heart ailment the last year, had been warned by doctors not to do any heavy work.
He is survived by a wife and daughter. The body is at Martin’s funeral home
