Michael C. Burroughs, 33, New Albin, died of injuries received when he lost control of the motorcycle he was operating on county road X32 two miles north of Waterville Saturday night.

The report in the Allamakee county sheriff's office shows Burroughs going north when he lost control, and the cycle left the road and struck a bank.

Motorcycle Crash Fatal to New Albin Man

Michael C. Burroughs, 33, of New Albin, was killed Saturday evening when the motorcycle he was riding went out of control near Waterville. Burroughs was pronounced dead at the Veterans Memorial Hospital in Waukon.

He was born on January 9, 1948 in La Crosse, Wis. the son of Lawrence and Margaret (Colsch) Burroughs. He graduated from St. George High School in Lansing in 1966. He was married on September 17, 1966 in New Albin to Debra Carroll.

He is survived by his wife; a son, John; a brother, Lawrence Burroughs, of Howell, Mich.; and a sister, Mrs. George (Belva) Ashbacher, of Waukon.

He was preceded in death by a son, Thomas.

Funeral services were held on Tuesday, August 18, at 10 a.m. at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in New Albin. The Rev. Linus Rasing officiated and burial was in the church cemetery.

Pallbearers were Harris McKee, Millard Vickery, Don Burroughs, Tim Burroughs, Larry Moore and Ron Strong.

The Burke-Thornburg Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
