Rites Held For Mrs. Salzgeber
Mrs. Christoph Salzgeber (Anna Magdalena Senholz) was born on March 5, 1803 [sic - likely 1863] in Garnavillo, the daughter of Carl Senholz and his wife Barbara Beck Senholz. She passed away on January 29, 1957 at the age of 93 years, 10 months and 24 days.
She was baptized in the Lutheran faith on May 25, 1863 and confirmed in St. Paul's Evangelical Lutheran Church on April 14, 1878. She remained a faithful member of the Church until she was unable to maintain her activity. She was one of the first members of the Ladies Aid when it was organized in St. Paul's Lutheran Church of Postville.
She was married to Christoph Salzgeber on October 29, 1896. She spent most of her life in Clayton county and Postville.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, who passed away in 1947; three sisters, Mrs. Henry Garms (Minnie), Mrs. Henry Meyer (Elizabeth) and Mrs. William Thoma (Emma); and two brothers, George Senholz and Fred Senholz.
She is survived by one brother, Charles Senholz of Postville; a number of nieces and nephews, and other relatives and friends.
Funeral services were conducted on February 1, at St. Paul's Evangelical Lutheran Church of Postville, with the Rev. Charles E. Witt, pastor, officiating. Burial was in the Postville cemetery.
