Edwin C. Schultz, 97, of Lansing, died Sunday, October 11, 1987, at Thornton Manor.
He was born June 20, 1890 in Postville, the son of Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Schultz.
He married Caroline Welper in 1913. She preceded him in death on September 14, 1970.
They farmed in the Lansing area for many years. Mr. Schultz was also a carpenter for many years before retiring in 1968. He was a member of the United Methodist Church.
He is survived by two sons, Alvin Schultz of La Crosse and Richard Schultz of Lansing; 7 grandchildren, 18 greatgrandchildren and 4 greatgreat-grandchildren; and a brother, Albert Schultz of West Union.
Besides his wife, he was preceded in death by a son, five brothers and one sister.
Pastor Tom Mattson officiated at the 1 p.m. services at the United Methodist Church. Burial was in Oakland Cemetery, Waukon.
Pallbearers were Ronald Schultz, James Seidel, Kyle Leppert, Kraig Leppert, Sean Clancy and Rick Troendle.
The Burke-Thornburg funeral home was in charge of arrangements.

Ed Schultz of Lansing, who is 89 years old, returned to his home on August 15 after a 17 day trip through the western states. He traveled by motor home with his son and daughter-in-law, Alvin and Enid Schultz. They traveled through Iowa, Minnesota, South Dakota, Wyoming and Idaho. When reaching Washington they met their cousins, Dick and Winnie Adams, from Vancouver and the Adams’ joined them to Kennewick, Washington, where they visited Ed’s great-granddaughter and husband, Paul and Kim Mauss, and also his great-grandson, Kyle Leppert. In Oregon they went to Carter Lake and then on to Ashland, where they visited at the home of Donald and Helen Peters. Coming back through Nevada they visited at the Stephan (Margie Peters) Wyphert home in Salt Lake City. In Wyoming they visited with Walt Keenan, and in Utica, Nebraska they visited with cousins of Ed’s, Mr. and Mrs. Ben Weiman and Mrs. George Heitman. He had not seen them for eight years. While making this trip they did not run into any rain until getting back to Nebraska. Ed reports the crops all looking fine and he also stated that he wouldn’t have missed the trip for the world!
