David H. Kruse
David H. Kruse, 75, died Monday, Dec. 25, 2006 at his home in Brownsville, MN. Memorial services were held Friday, Dec. 29 at 10 a.m. at St. Peter's Community Church in New Albin. Memorials will be given to the Karla Joy Kruse Scholarship Fund. Haugen-Roble-Jandt Funeral Home, Caledonia, was in charge of arrangements.
David Kruse was born August 7, 1931, in Lima, OH to Kenneth and Grace Kruse. He graduated from Iowa State University with a Bachelor of Science degree in Poultry Science and was also a member of the Sigma Nu fraternity.
December 19, 1953, David married Dorothy Rockhill in Marshalltown. He was employed in poultry with Ames In-Cross and ag production on his own with Kruse Enterprise, and he also owned and operated Kruse's Sundry Store and worked in sales with Standard Oil Company, all in Roland. In 1969 Dave and Dorothy moved to New Albin. He traveled throughout the Midwest, working in sales with Hess & Clark until he retired in 1986.
After the completion of their retirement home overlooking the Mississippi River, David and Dorothy moved to Brownsville in 1992. He was a member of St. Peter's Church in New Albin, where he served on the church council. He was also a member of Brownsville Green and was a supporter of the Commonweal Theater in Lanesboro, MN.
Survivors include his wife, Dorothy ".T" of Brownsville; a daughter, Brenda "BJ" (Don) Taylor of Copperas, TX; and two sisters, Polly Silberman of Chicago, IL, and Helen Baroniak of Helen, MD. David was preceded in death by his parents; a daughter, Karla Joy Kruse; and two sisters, Mary Bailey and Ruthie Arnold.
