Obituary-Meta K. Fawcett.

C. M. Kerndt and son Theodore were summoned to Chicago last Wednesday by a message announcing the dangerous condition of their daughter and sister, Mrs. Meta Fawcett, following an emergency operation for obstruction of the bowels. They left that night from DeSoto on the Burlington but she died before they could reach the city next morning. Theodore returned Friday morning, and the father and others brought the remains to DeSoto that evening, from whence they were taken to the family home on the Park.

Meta M. Kerndt, eldest daughter of Mr. and Mrs. C. M. Kerndt, was born in Lansing Jan. 17, 1895, and would have been 38 years of age her next birthday. Several years ago in Chicago she married Robert Fawcett, who with one daughter, Rosemary, and one step-son, Robert, mourn the loss of a loving wife and mother. Deceased is also survived by her father, C.M. Kerndt, her mother dying April 26, 1926; three brothers, Arthur, Theodore and Richard, and one sister, PauIa; besides a host of other relatives and friends, who will grieve over her sudden passing.

She was educated in the local I.C. High School and graduated from St. Mary's, Prairie du, Chien, later taking nurses' training at St. Mary's Hospital, Milwaukee; and was a competent, capable woman in whatever position placed. .

Mrs. Fawcett was noted for her generosity, big-heartedness and loyal friendship. She was one who did not waste words when those she knew and loved needed assistance, but went at once to their aid with acts of sympathy and kindness, for which they will ever be grateful and cherish her memory.

The funeral took place Saturday morning from I. C. church in Lansing, Msgr. G. L. Haxmeier officiating, with burial beside her mother in Gethsemane cemetery. Pall bearers were J. W. Dempsey, James Mooney, Leo Krieger, Clarence Carroll, Leo Unterberger and M. F. Dunlevy.

Out of town relatives at the funeral were: V. R. Weast, wife and daughter Virginia; Paula Kerndt, Robert Fawcett, son Robert and daughter Rosemary, Chicago; Richard Kerndt, wife and baby, Peter Brust and wife, Mrs. Frank Luick, Milwaukee.
