Services Monday for Martha D. Bulman, 71

Memorial services for Martha D. Bulman, 71, who died Saturday morning in a Waukon hospital following a long illness, will be conducted in the Murdoch chapel Monday at 1:30 p.m. by the Rev. Jean P. Hauter. Burial will be in Cedar Memorial cemetery.

Born March 31, 1885, in Allamakee county, she was married to Joseph H. Bulman Feb. 5, 1908. They moved to Marion from Waukon in April 1936. Mr. Bulman died at Marion in 1949. Mrs. Bulman sold her residence at 731 Fifth avenue and returned to Waukon to reside two years ago. She was a member of the Mt. Hope Presbyterian church in Allamakee county.

Surviving are a daughter, Mrs. Vernon (Mildred) Schroeder, and a granddaughter, Diana Sue Schroeder, both of Marian; three brothers, Henry Verthein of Lansing, George Verthein of Caledonia, Minn. and John Verthein of Waukon; and four sisters, Mrs. Emma Bulman of Waukon, Mrs. Alvina Wild of Lansing, Mrs. Gusta Olander of Waterville, and Mrs. Clara Donahue of Cedar Rapids. Friends may call at the chapel.

Mrs. Joseph Bulman
WAUKON, Iowa (Special)- Mrs. Joseph Bulman, 71, died early Saturday at a Waukon hospital following a week’s illness. Death was due to a heart ailment.

The body was taken to Marian, Iowa, where funeral services will be held and burial made.

Martha Verthein was born March 2, 1885, in Union City Township, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. John Verthein, early settlers. She was married Feb. 5, 1907, to Joseph Bulman at Mt. Hope Presbyterian Church.

She lived at Marian for many years after her marriage, moving to Waukon six years ago after the death of her husband.

She is survived by one daughter, Mrs. Vernon Schroeder of Marian, and one granddaughter. Also surviving are three brothers, Henry Verthein of Lansing; Gustave of Caledonia, Minn., and John of Waukon: and four sisters, Mrs. Mark Donahue of Cedar Rapids, Mrs. Bert Bulman of Waukon, Mrs. N. O. Olander of Center Township, and Mrs. Gustave Wild of French Creek Township.
