Autopsy Planned on Body of Young Postville Man
Waukon – Allamakee county authorities Tuesday night identified the body of the young man who was found along the bank of Paint Creek on the Mississippi river three and a half miles south of Harpers Ferry last weekend.
Allamakee Sheriff Neil Becker identified the dead man as David Lynn Anderson, 19, of Postville. He said the identification was confirmed by Anderson’s parents.
Becker said the body will be taken to University hospitals in Iowa City where an autopsy will be performed to determine cause and time of death.
Anderson’s body was found lying on its side by Charles Mason of Marquette. Sheriff Becker said he doesn’t know yet if Anderson’s death was accidental or not, but there are other reports saying foul play is suspected.
Sheriff Becker said it is his understanding the Anderson youth had just returned from the service.
Becker said Anderson’s car was found several miles from the spot where the body was found. He said nothing at the scene of the car provided any information as to what may have happened.
Authorities are conducting their investigation.
