Doctor 50 Years Dies at Waukon
Waukon – Dr. B. J .Dillon 78, died at his home here Saturday.
He was the dean of Allamakee county physicians, having practiced medicine here more than 50 years.
Dr. Dillon is survived by his widow and a daughter.
The body is at Bakke-Hanson funeral home.

WAUKON, Ia. – Dr. B. J. Dillon, 78, Waukon, died at his home Saturday.Services have been tentatively set for 9 a.m. Tuesday at St. Patrick’s Church, Waukon, with burial in St. Pius Cemetery, Cherry Mound. Bakke and Hanson Funeral Home, Waukon are in charge.
He is survived by his wife, Clemse, one daughter, Mrs. Emma Sullivan, Waukon, and one sister, Mrs. Margaret Carpenter, Long Beach, Calif.
Dr. Dillon was the dean of Allamakee County physicians, having practiced medicine for over 50 years. He was born in Volga, Clayton County and graduated from Strawberry Point High School and from the University of Chicago Medical School.
He practiced medicine in Chicago for nine months, three months in Volga and at Waterville for 25 years before coming to Waukon about 27 years ago.
Dr. Dillon was honored in 1955 on his 50th anniversary of his becoming a doctor. A purse of money was presented to him by the residents. Pope Pius XII sent his blessing.
Dr. Dillon at one time served almost all of Allamakee County, practicing 15 hours a day. He traveled around on a horse and buggy and later by automobile, driving as many as 13,500 miles a year. During his long career he delivered more than 4,000 babies.
