Former Resident Dies in Minnesota

Wendel D. Brooks, 44, of New Prague, MN died there in Queen of Peace hospital Wednesday, April 4.

He was born January 28, 1935 in Waukon to Kenneth and Colene (Wendel) Brooks. He attended the Waukon schools and DeVry Electronics school in Chicago, IL. He served in the Army from 1954 to 1957 and on July 19, 1959 married Darlene L. Bangston in Rockwell City. They moved to New Prague in July of last year and had previously lived in Apple Valley, MN. He was employed by NCS (National Computer System) as an electronic technician in Minneapolis, MN.

He is survived by his wife; two sons and three daughters, Kenneth, Eric, Anne, Nancy and Carrie, all at home; his parents, and two sisters, Mrs. Neal (Shirley) Palmer of Waterville and Mrs. Darrel (Janet) Koozer of Volga.

Funeral services were held Saturday, April 7,at 1:30 p.m. at Grace Lutheran church in Apple Valley. The Rev James Voelker officiated with Scot Turnbull assisting. Burial was in Oak Hill cemetery in Lansing. Pallbearers were James Maciey, Alan Marble, Robert Howard, Clayton Kjier, James Bauch and John Buscher.
