Mrs. James Baxter, 83, Waukon, died Monday, Jan, 22, 1968, in the Waukon hospital.
Services are tentatively set for Thursday morning in St. Patrick's Catholic church, with burial in Mount Olivet cemetery. Martin's Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Nellie was born to Mr. and Mrs. Martin Conner Dec. 18, 1884, in Winfred, S.D., and married James Baxter June 1, 1910, in Howard S.D. They came to Waukon in 1915, and her husband was a former Allamakee county sheriff. He died April 26, 1965.
Surviving are one daughter, Mrs. Walton (Mary) Mellick of Wakon; two sons, Harold of Charles City, Ia. and James of Iowa City, Ia.; four grandchildren and four great-grandchildren; one brother, Martin Conner of Howard, S.D.; and four sisters, Mrs. Carl Clementson of Madison, S.D., Mrs. Loretta Ryan of Tacoma, Wash., Mrs. Frank Lawler of Lewiston, Idaho, and Mrs. Thomas Duffy of Oldham, S.D.
