Obituary; Minnie Finke Burnham
Minnie Finke was born July 13, 1842, in Mecklenburg,Germany, In 1872, she emigrated to America, where she made her home with her sister Mrs. Mary Muchow for four years. On October 2,1876,at Elkader,Iowa, she was united in marriage to James F. Burnham and settled on a farm near Farmersburg,where she lived until her health failed and she came to Postville, January 8,1915, where she made her home with her niece Mrs Chas. Warnholtz.
On April 6th 1920,she had a paralytic stroke from which she never rallied and on May 16,at 11:45 A.M., she passed away at the age of 77 years,10 months and three days.
She was proceeded in death by three sisters and two brothers. She leaves to mourn her loss two nephews, John Muchow of Postville and Henry Muchow of Fergus Falls, Minn and five nieces, Mrs. Dora Madaus, Plainfield, Mrs. Mary Powell, Dallas,Oregon; Mrs. Louis Heckman,Mrs. Mary Sawvelle,and Mrs. Chas. Warnholtz of Postville,besides a host of friends.
She was a member of the M.E.Church at Farmersburg, being all her life a follower of the Nazarene. She was devoted to her relatives,kind to neighbors and charitable to all. Hers was truly a life well spent.
The funeral services were held Tuesday at 1;30 o`clock at the M.E. Church at Farmersburg,Rev. Hadwen Williams of Postville preaching the sermon at her request from 23rd Psalm,after which the remains were laid to rest beside her husband in the Farmersburg Cemetery.
