Gloria Duvel
Gloria Jean Duvel, of Waukon, formerly of Postville, passed away Sunday, Nov. 5, in the Northgate Care Center in Waukon. She was 65.
Funeral services were held Wednesday, Nov. 8, 2006, at the Schutte Funeral Home in Postville. Pastor Lynne Hanna presided. Casket bearers were: Dwayne Brink, Roger Goeke, Ron Boice, Kenny Cornelison, Elmer Hanson, Jeff Dahl, and Marty Adam. Honorary casket bearers were the grandchildren and great grandchildren. Burial was in the Salem United Church of Christ Cemetery, rural Waukon. The Schutte Funeral and Cremation Service of Postville was in charge of arrangements.
Gloria was born May 16, 1941, to Richard J. And Julana B. (Bray) McNally, in Johnson County, Iowa City.
Gloria received her education in the rural schools, which included the Evergreen School and the Grand Meadow School. On April 30, 1960, Gloria was married to Norman Duvel at the Forest Mills Church south of Waukon. To this union three children were born. They lived in the Postville and Castalia areas for several years, then north of Postville for 15 years, and for a short time she lived in Waukon.
She is preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Norman, who died in 1983, a brother, Milton McNally and a sister, Dorothy McNally.
Surviving are her children, Raymond (Sandy) Duvel, Waukon, Richard Duvel, Decorah, Arlene (Jeff) Dahl, Postville; seven grandchildren: Chris N. Dahl, Heather J. Dahl, Shawna M. Dahl, Josh A. Dahl, Justin A. Duvel, Belle E. Duvel, and James L. Duvel; three great grandchildren: Chase N. Dahl, Matt N. Dahl, and Alex N. Dahl-Azurdia.
Also surviving are her five sisters and one brother: Marlene Adam, Cresco, Marlys Kleppe, Fayette, Beulah (Richard) Fadness, West Union, John "Jack" McNally, Waukon, Fronzie Busby, Texas, and Flora (John) Engelhardt, Clermont, and other relatives and friends.
