Lois A. Meyer, 83, of Caledonia and formerly of New Albin, IA, and Eitzen, died Saturday, April 29, 2006 at Gundersen-Lutheran Medical Center, La Crosse.
She was born June 15, 1922 in Caledonia to Edward and Pearl (Dolan) Middendorf. On September 24, 1945 Lois married Elmer William Meyer at the Little Brown Church in Nashua, Iowa. Together they farmed in the New Albin area for many years. On July 25, 1984, Elmer preceded Lois in death. In 1987, Lois moved to Eitzen, where she lived until May of 2005 when she moved to Caledonia. She was a longtime member of St. John’s United Church of Christ, Wheatland.
Survivors include five children, Joye Meyer of Cresco, IA, Gaye (Don) Einck of Decorah, IA, Irey (Juanita) Meyer of New Albin, IA, twin daughters, Jean (Mike) Meiners of Caledonia, and Jill (Tim) Heiderscheit of New Albin, Iowa; 11 grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; two sisters, Mary Lou Burrichter and Janice Adamson, both of Eitzen; and many nieces and nephews.
In addition to her husband, Lois was preceded in death by her son, Hugh; her parents; her step-mother, Rowena; her brother, William in infancy; her sister, Wilma (Cliff) Sherman; her son-in-law, Eric Myhre; and two brothers-in-law, Bud Burrichter and Paul Adamson.
Funeral services will be Tuesday, May 2, at 10:30 a.m. at Immanuel Lutheran Church, Caledonia. Rev. Paul Burgess will officiate. Burial will be in St. John’s U.C.C. Cemetery, Wheatland. Friends may call at Haugen-Roble-Jandt Funeral Home, 518 W. Main St., Caledonia, on Monday from 4 p.m. until 8 p.m. and at the church on Tuesday from 9:30 a.m. until the time of service. Memorials are preferred in lieu of flowers.
