Hugh Edward Meyer, 28, was killed Saturday, Nov. 6, in a farm accident at his family's farm. Meyer was operating a baler Saturday afternoon, baling cornstalks in a field on the farm in Union City Township, rural New Albin, when the accident occurred.
He was born July 2, 1948, in Caledonia to Elmer and Lois (Middendorf) Meyer. He was a 1970 civil engineering graduate of Iowa State University of Science and Technology, Ames.
After graduation he worked for Jacobson-Westergard Association at Estherville, Iowa, until 1973, when he returned home to help run the farm when his father became ill.
Survivors are his parents; a brother, Irey of Eitzen, Minn.; four sisters, Mrs. James (Joye) Diepzenback of Cresco, Mrs. Donald (Gaye) Einck of Decorah, and Jean and Jill, both at home.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday in St. John's United Church of Christ, Wheatland, rural New Albin. Rev. James Parker will officiate and burial will be in the church cemetery.
Friends may call at the Potter-Haugen Funeral Home, Caledonia, Minn., Monday afternoon and evening, and at the church Tuesday from 1 p.m. until the services.
