Obituary of Pearl Swenson Honn
Pearl A. Honn, age 91, of Waukon, died Wednesday, June 30, 2004, at Northgate Care Center in Waukon. Funeral services were held Saturday, July 3 at St. Paul's United Methodist Church in Waukon, with Rev. Steve Campbell officiating. Burial was in Oakland Cemetery. Martin Funeral Home in Waukon was in charge of arrangements.
Pearl Ann was born February 1, 1913, in Jefferson Township, rural Waukon, Iowa, the daughter of Seward and Lucy (Gilson) Swenson. She was baptized and confirmed at Forest Mills United Methodist Church and attended the Forest Mills School.
On June 26, 1930, she married Roy Louis Honn in Waukon. Pearl and Roy farmed in the Forest Mills area until moving to Waukon in 1972. From 1972 until 1978 she enjoyed working at Northgate Care Center. Pearl also did a lot of babysitting for her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Since 2003 she has been living at Southridge Senior Village in Waukon.
Pearl was an active member of St. Paul's United Methodist Church and its Ladies Circles. She also enjoyed spending time with her family, entertaining and especially cooking for them. She also liked to crochet.
Survivors include three sons, Roger (Shari) Honn of Cedar Rapids, Meryle Honn of Waukon, and Bill (Evelyn) Honn of Waterloo; 11 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; and 13 great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband Roy, who died in 1987; a granddaughter, Cathy Miller; a grandson, Brian Honn; a daughter-in-law, Linda Honn; two brothers, Lloyd and Harley Swenson; and four sisters, Mildred Johnson, Ethel Barr, Mabel Pearson, and Grace Hayes.
Casketbearers are Stephen W., Brad, David, Kevin, and Steve Honn, Carl Kruse, and Donn Hager.
