Hiller Teff, Sr. died at his home in Dorchester, June 23, aged eighty. Born in 1833 in Baden, Germany, he came to Dubuque in 1855. Was married there in 1857 to Katrina Stetzel who still lives, and settled soon after in Dorchester. He was a shoemaker by trade and after a few years at that work at several places in this vicinity he took up farming on Waterloo ridge where he lived until ten years ago when he came with his wife to live in the cottage in this village, leaving the old homestead to his son of the same name. There is a family of eleven children, one of whom is dead. Joe lives at Foley and John at Austin, Minn. Mrs. Jake Mauss and Mrs. J. Eibock live in Oregon, Mrs. Nick Colsch and Mrs. Peter Metzdorf at New Albin, George at Quandahl, Henry on the farm near here and Max has the harness and repair shop in Dorchester. Grandpa Teff was badly crippled in an accident with a stump pulling machine twenty years ago and for forty years was stiff with rheumatism but his health was good until this spring when an attack of grippe weakened him and brought him slowly to the end. The funeral will be held here today, Wednesday, with a Requiem mass by Father Ryan of New Albin, who will answer calls of the Catholics of this parish during the absence this week at Dubuque of the local pastor
