Elisa Friederika Dahms, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Henry Kluss, was born December 27, 1880. She was baptized in St. Paul's Evangelical Lutheran Church of Postville on April 24, 1881, and was confirmed on April 8, 1894.

She was united in marriage to Fred W. Dahms on February 21, 1899. To this union were born nine children. She lived her entire life in this area. She had been confined to a wheel chair for the past two-and-one-half years, being cared for by two of her daughters, Mabel, Mrs. Elbe Christofferson and Mrs. Ethel Meyer.

She passed away suddenly on September 2, 1959 at the age of 78 years, eight months and four days. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband on June 3, 1949, and one granddaughter Barbara Dahms.

She is survived by six sons, Harvey of Monona, Gilbert of Chula Vista, California, Lloyd of Marysville, California, Clarence of Mason City, Earl of West Concord, Minnesota, and Wayne of Castalia; three daughters, Lorene Dahms of Madison, Wisconsin, Mabel, Mrs. Elbe Christofferson of Postville, and Mrs. Ethel Meyer of Postville; three sisters, Tillie, Mrs. Charles Brandt of Decorah, Melinda, Mrs. Gene Hawkins of El Monte, California, Elsie, Mrs. Fred Landt of Postville and Emil Kluss of Waterloo; 15 grandchildren; 21 great grandchildren and many other relatives and friends.

She was a member of Zion Lutheran Church, Castalia for a number of years and a member of the Ladies' Aid Society of that Church. She has been a member of St. Paul's Evangelical Lutheran Church of Postville since 1950.

Funeral services were conducted in St. Paul's Evangelical Lutheran Church of Postville on September 5, at 2:00 with the pastor, Rev. Charles Witt officiating. Burial was in Postville cemetery.
