Linda Mindham

Linda Mindham, 56, of Waukon, Iowa, died Thursday, August 17, 2006, at Thornton Manor Care Center in Lansing, Iowa. Funeral services were held Monday, August 21, at St. Paul's United Methodist Church in Waukon, with Rev. Richard Iles officiating. Burial was in Haney Ridge Cemetery, rural Boscobel, Wis. Martin Funeral Home in Waukon was in charge of arrangements.

Linda Lou was born in Viroqua, Wis., September 16, 1949, the daughter of Pat and Phyllis (Silbaugh) Driscoll. Their family lived in a number of southwest Wisconsin communities following her father's career. Linda graduated from Fennimore High School in 1968 and worked for the Grant/Crawford Electric Coop for several years.

June 2, 1973, she married Leon Mindham in Boscobel, Wis. They moved to Waukon later that year when Leon started teaching there. Linda worked first as a legal secretary for A.E. Sheridan and a bookkeeper at Waukon John Deere. She then started her own business called Linda's Bookkeeping and Accounting, and serviced a number of small local businesses. The past 26 years she has been a manager for Allamakee Housing, Inc., where she played a vital role in building expansions and the implementation of assisted living services. She also managed Eighth Avenue Apartments in Waukon, Monona Housing in Monona, and Farmersburg Senior Citizen Housing.

Linda was a member of St. Paul's United Methodist Church and in earlier years was active in some of her children's scouting and library activities. She enjoyed knitting and crafts and was beginning to take up painting. Her extensive collection of thimbles and Country Cousins figurines were also a favorite of hers. Throughout her life she had a love of animals, especially horses as a child and her cats in later years.

Survivors include her husband Leon of Waukon; three children, Nicole of Madison, Wis., and David and Steve, both of Ames, Iowa; four brothers, Ron of LaFarge, Wis., Mike of Clyde, Texas, Scott of Mesa, Ariz., and Glenn of Texas; and two sisters, Connie of Minneapolis, Minn., and Colleen of Clyde, Texas.

She was preceded in death by her parents; a sister, Kathy; and a special aunt and uncle, Gay and Martin French of Sun Prairie, Wis.

Casketbearers were Bob Joachim, Dale Hart, Ed Stamper, Dave Davies, and Arnold, Gary, Loren, and Warren Mindham.
