Funeral services for Delores Wedo, age 72, were held Thursday, August 1, 2002, at 11:00 a.m. in the Community Presbyterian Church at Postville. The Rev. Gary Catterson officiated. Special music was provided by Karla Johnson, soloist, and Beverly Bacon, organist. Casket bearers were Debra Bock, Michael Duffield, Steven Back, Shane Wedo, William Duffield, and Talitha McCallister. The Schutte Funeral and Cremation Service of Postville was in charge of arrangements. Burial was in the Postville Cemetery. Delores Jean Wedo, the daughter of Arthur Hesse and Esther (Bechtel) Hesse, was born February 12, 1930, in Allamakee County, near Waukon. She passed away Monday, July 29, 2002, at her home in Postville. Delores attended the Bell Country School in Allamakee County and also the Birdsell School at Frankville. She spent her early years in the Waukon area. Delores enjoyed dancing, which was one of the popular activities of her generation. On November 10, 1947, Delores married Meder Peterson. To this union two children were born, Larry and Cheryl. They lived in the Luana area. Meder passed away on September 22, 1951. Delores was married to LaVerne Wedo on August 26, 1955, at the home of the Rev. Walter T. Martin in Postville. The couple made their home in Postville. To this union two children were born, Randy and Connie. Delores enjoyed spending time with her children and grandchildren. She liked to crochet and knit, work in her flower bed, and go fishing. She is preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Meder; a brother, Donald Hesse; one grandson, Travis Schnuelle; and her mother-in-law, Margaret Wedo. Surviving are her husband, LaVerne Wedo; her children, Larry M. Peterson, Bakers, Fla., Cheryl A. Bock, and Randy E. (Linda L.) Wedo, all of Decorah, and Connie K. Duffield, Postville. Also surviving are 13 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and three sisters, Irma Van Wey, Waukon, Vivian (Norman) Peterson, Postville, and Jane (Edward) Boese of Sunberry.

M. in the Community Presbyterian Church at Postville. Visitation will be Wednesday, July 31, 2002 from 4:00 to 7:00 P. M. at the Schutte Funeral Home in Postville. Burial will be in the Postville Cemetery.
