Marie Wendel

Marie J. Wendel, 70, of Marion, died Monday, May 29, 2006, in the Hiawatha Care Center following a long illness. A celebration of life ceremony was held Saturday, June 3, at Lutheran Church of the Resurrection, Marion. Pastor Dennis Johnson officiated. Entombment was at Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery, Cedar Rapids. Arrangements were by Cedar Memorial Funeral Home in Cedar Rapids.

Survivors include her husband, Bill; a son, Pete Wendel and wife Jill of St. Joseph, Mich.; a grandson, Parker; a granddaughter, Melissa; and a sister, Jo Ann Fritz of Waukon.

She was preceded in death by her parents and a brother, Ralph Glynn.

Marie was born January 7, 1936, in Lansing, Iowa. She married Bill Wendel September 21, 1958, in Lansing. Marie was a registered nurse at Mercy Medical Center in Cedar Rapids prior to her retirement.
