Mayme Waters, age 93, of New Albin, died Tuesday, July 23, 2002, at Veterans Memorial Hospital. Funeral services were held Friday, July 26 at St. Peter's United Church of Christ, New Albin. Pastor William Reese officiated. Burial was in the New Albin City Cemetery. Roble Funeral Service, Spring Grove, assisted with the arrangements.
Mayme Ann King was born November 6, 1908, in Allamakee County to Fred and Bertha (Meyer) King. She attended rural school in New Albin. She was a lifelong area resident.
On February 14, 1941, she married Vince Waters. The couple farmed in Iowa Township until retiring and moving to New Albin in 1970. Vince passed away December 23, 1983.
Mayme was a member of St. Peter's United Church of Christ in New Albin. She enjoyed embroidery, euchre, checkers, and volunteering at Thornton Manor in Lansing. She also enjoyed spending time with her family and friends and her cat, Bootsie.
She is survived by two sons, Larry and his friend Jill, and Bob and his wife Phyllis; four grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and several great nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, her brother Leo King, and her sister Lydia Krueger.source: Waukon Standard July 31, 2002
