Joan M. Lucas, age 75, of Prairie du Chien, Wis., passed away Tuesday, June 20, 2006, at the Lutheran Home in River Falls, Wis.

She was born March 20, 1931, in Waukon, Iowa, daughter of John and Sarah (Krueger) Ludeking. She married Eldon Lucas May 21, 1954, at the Little Brown Church in Nashua, Iowa. He preceded her in death May 14, 2003.

Joan graduated from Upper Iowa University and went on to teach country school at Swede Ridge, and later MFL and Mar-Mac Schools until her retirement after 40 years of teaching in 1992. She was a member of St. Peter’s Church in Prairie du Chien and was an avid Badger fan.

She is survived by a daughter Debra (Patrick) Abair of River Falls, Wis.; a son Randy (Jolene) Lucas of Lake Mills, Wis.; a sister Ruth (Leo) Brink of Waukon, Iowa; along with four grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, and a brother, Willis Ludeking.

Funeral services were held Friday, June 23, at the Garrity Funeral Home Chapel, Rev. Doug Mathison officiating. Burial was in the Evergreen Cemetery, Prairie du Chien.
