Della Reed

Della DeLight Reed, 86, of Lansing, Iowa, died Tuesday, May 2, 2006, at Veterans Memorial Hospital in Waukon, Iowa. Funeral services were held Saturday, May 6, at the United Methodist Church, Lansing, with Rev. Keith Putney officiating. Burial was in Lansing Cemetery. Thornburg Hanson Funeral Home, Lansing, was in charge of arrangements.

Della was born December 22, 1919, to James and Alty (Patterson) McKee, in rural Lansing. She graduated from Lansing High School. Della married Robert Reed at the McKee residence, rural Lansing, February 8, 1939. They farmed all of their married life.

Della enjoyed gardening, flowers, playing cards, going for walks, picking berries, and was known as a great cook.

She is survived by four children, Mary (Bob) Peters, Glen (Eloise) Reed, Kay (Jim) Christensen, and Roger (Mary) Reed, all of Lansing; 12 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; and a sister, Aletha Johnson of Decorah.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband Bob; five brothers, Richard, Ernest, Cletus, Devillo, and Cyril McKee; one sister, Drusilla Johnson; two grandsons, Bob Christensen and Dale Peters; and two infant granddaughters.
