FRANK E. WENIG, SPENCER. - Labor Commissioner, was born November 5, 1887, at
New Albin, Iowa. When he was sixteen months of age, his parents, Jacob and
Henrietta Wenig, moved to Inwood in Lyon county. He received his education
in the public schools there and since 1907 has been employed by the Milwaukee
railroad. Served overseas during the World War and has been post commander
of the American Legion at Spencer, district commander and state
vice-commander. Married and has two children: Ralph and Carolyn. He has been a member of
the Brotherhood of Locomotive Firemen and Engineers for twenty-six years and
has served on state labor legislative committees as well as being delegate to
many labor conventions. Elected as a state representative from Clay county
in 1932 and was appointed Labor Commissioner by Governor Herring during the
session of the forty-fifth general assembly. A democrat.
