Peter Muller was born in the Rhine Province, Germany,on the 3 November 1856. His parents, Peter and Caroline Muller, were also born in Germany where the father died 4 July 1897 at the age of 68. There were four children in the family: Peter; Carl, Bowling Green,Ohio; Julius, Germany; and Phillip d. in Germany in 1888.

Peter was seventeen years old when he came to America seeking his fortune. He landed in the United Stated on 17 September 1873, locating first in Danville, kentucky where he was a baker for ten months. He then migrated to Springfield, Ohio. He later came to Postville, Iowa and operated a bakery for twelve years. While in Postville, he married Albertina Kammine, on
the 12 October 1879. Mrs. Muller was also a native of Germany, b. 28 October 1859, the daughter of Henry and Louise Kammine. Her parents emigrated to the United States in 1873 and located in Allamakee Co. The father died there in July 1909 and the mother died 27 March 1911. Mrs. Muller was the eldest of three children. Her sisters were: Tillie m. Paul
Topel, Allamakee Co.; and Amelia m. Fred Duebel, of Allamakee Co.

Mr. and Mrs. Muller had no children of their own but adopted two, Lemma and May A.
