Banker; born in Waukon, Iowa, Jan. 13 1856 son of James W. and Cynthia S. (Shepard) Nichols: educated in Waukon High School and Bayliss Business College, Dubuque: married, Oakes, N. Dak., Jan. 2, 1890, Rose W. Hutsinplller; married, second, Oct. 17, 1901, Bessie I. Sipe: children: Ruth, born in 1892, Harold, born in 1897. Taught school, and worked in mercantile house during early life; went to Dickey County, 1883, and acquired large tract of land; engaged in farming and stock raising. Engaged in banking business in Oakes, N. Dak., 1903: elected president of the Oakes National Bank, which position still occupies: secretary and treasurer Oakes Flour Mills. Served as clerk in Court of Dickey County, N. Dak. 1889-1893, Republican, Methodist, Trustee of Methodist Church in Oakes, N. Dak. Royal Arch Mason. Yoeman. Recreation: Gardening.
