Ole K. Grefstad
Was born in Norway in 1836. He attended the higher schools and for six years was a teacher in his native country. He emigrated to America in 1864. He located in Allamakee county, where he taught an English and Norwegian school for seventeen years. In 1861 he came to Humboldt county, and bought a farm of 160 acres on which he resided until eight years ago when he moved to Bode. In 1871 he was married to Julia Gjefle. They have three children. Anna the eldest died at the age of twenty-one while teaching in the Bode public schools. Daniel, aged twenty-three, lives on his father's farm adjoining Bode. Oscar, the youngest is attending college at Decorah, Iowa. Mr. Grefstad, on account of his education and absolute fairness has been always in demand by his fellow citizens to serve them in an official way. He has held various township offices and has for years held the office of justice of the peace. He is treasurer and an active member of his church. He is director in the Humboldt County Mutual Insurance Company. In politics he is a believer in the perpetuity of the principles of the Republican party.
