James Rimmer, who has been for many years a resident of Adams County, passed away at his home in Corning, Thursday at the age of 76 years, 5 months, and 19 days. Funeral services were held at the home Saturday, October 11, conducted by Rev. L. W. Verts of the Baptist Church in Corning assisted by Rev. Humphreys of the Fairview Church. Interment in the Prairie Rose Cemetery.
James Rimmer was born April 10, 1854 in Wyoming County, New York. Here he spent his boyhood days. Later he moved to Charlotte, Iowa, where he married Addie L. Foster on November 7, 1878. To this union was born four children, Mary Alice Hall, Louis, and Ivan, all of near Corning and R. Newton of Newell, Iowa.
Many years of his entire active life were spent on his farm near the Adams and Taylor County line, until his retirement to Corning. He was converted and united with the Methodist Church at Iveyville and later united with the Fairview Christian Church, of which he is still a member. He is survived by his widow, four children, 7 grandchildren, and one brother and one sister. He had been a good father and neighbor and will be greatly missed because of his kind words and cheerful disposition.
