Friends and neighbors were grieved to learn of the death of Mrs. John Hinkle which happened Sunday morning, shortly after midnight in the hospital in Preston where she was taken Saturday. Mrs. Hinkle had been ill for several weeks and was taken critically sick Saturday morning and as soon as possible was taken from her home four miles from Carbon to the hospital where she could be taken better care of.
Flora Belle Dugan, daughter of Zachary Taylor Dugan and Nancy Ann Parker was born December 25, 1888 in Tipton, Indiana. She was married to John Hinkle August 18, 1905 and to this union ten children were born. Dallas and Ralph Richard preceded the mother in death. The living children are Dorothy Fredrickson of Audubon, Iowa, Velma of Mayfield, Kentucky, Daisy Magneson of Carbon, Joe, Mable, John, Fern, and Betty at home.
Mr. and Mrs. Hinkle came to Atlantic, Iowa, June 21, 1924, having spent the greater part of their lives in Indiana. The family moved to the Carbon vicinity June 31, 1932. She leaves to mourn her sudden death, her husband and children, two brothers, William Dugan of Indianapolis and Otto of Windfall, Indiana. A host of friends and relatives join with the family in their hour of sorrow.
Funeral services were conducted at the Hilliard Home with Rev. William Overhulser in charge. Interment was made in the Quincy Cemetery.
