MINER

Private Mart Miner, who belonged to the Ninth Illinois Cavalry, answered the last roll call Tuesday night, at the home of John Black, this city. While the Free Press containing this notice is being printed, this old veteran's comrade in arms and in the members of the Grand Army Post are tenderly bearing this to "the low green tent" in Walnut Grove Cemetery. Brief services were held this morning in the Congregational Church conducted by Rev. A. M. Beman, who was a soldier. No better words can be said of this dead than can be written of poor old Mart Miner. He was inoffensive, and honest, loyal to his friends and country, an now, so far as we know, in the realms of eternal rest.
