Agnes Pearl Hardisty Walton

Agnes Pearl Hardisty was born in January 16, 1875 in Carbon, Adams County, Iowa to George Washington Hardisty and Ella Evaline Boham. She died of a heart attack on August 3, 1935 at her home in Corning, Adams County, Iowa at the age of 60 years, 5 months, 18 days. Her childhood was spent at Carbon, Iowa. When she was 15 she moved with her parents to a farm four miles southeast of Brooks. She finished her schooling in Corning, Iowa. She united with the Methodist Church at Carbon, transferring her membership to the Methodist Church in Corning and continued her membership until her death, attending services as far as her health would permit.
She married Sherman Ole Walton on September 28, 1893 in Corning and he with their 7 children survive her. The children are Frank Leroy of Aurora, Colorado, Amos of Basset, Nebraska, Arthur N. of Massena, Iowa, Mrs. Gladys Pallas of Omaha, Nebraska, Mrs. Fern Harlass of Raymond, Nebraska, Mrs. Pansy Covert, Omaha, Nebraska, Mrs. Jennie Jacobson of Omaha, Nebraska, and 18 grandchildren.
If she would have lived till September 25, they would have celebrated their 42 wedding anniversary.
Mr. and Mrs. Walton moved to the farm and started housekeeping shortly after they were married. On March 12, 1897 they moved to Aurora, Nebraska by overland and lived there for 5 months then returned to Adams County. On March 9, 1900 they moved to the W. S. Hall farm in Lincoln Township in Adams County and lived there for 12 years. On March 1, 1912 they moved to Corning and bought property, then sold it and moved to the farm in October of 1913. On March 27, 1915 they moved back to Corning and lived there till her death.
She was a faithful and loving wife and mother, her whole interest being centered in her home and family.
She is also survived by 5 sisters and 4 brothers, Mrs. Eva White of Northern Iowa, Mrs. Grace Chilcott, Mrs. Faye Thomas, Mrs. Myrtle Flowers, Mrs. Zula Thomas, Eugene Hardisty, Eppa Hardisty, and George Hardisty all of Corning, Iowa, and Tilden Hardisty of Missouri.
Funeral services were Monday at the Methodist Episcopal Church conducted by Rev. William Overhauler, and interment in the Quincy Cemetery. All seven children were present for the services.
